Overview

After a short introduction you will be shown aboard your yacht. Our yachts are all keel boats which range in size from 33 to 45 feet.

Objectives to be covered in the Introductory Sailing Course are:

Know what safety equipment to carry on board, when and how to use it. Understand the principles of sailing and how they apply to a larger yacht. Be familiar with basic sailing technology. Have a basic understanding of how to sail a yacht on all points, tacking, gybing and basic sail trimming.

Know the safe and correct use of winches - hardening in and easing out.

We are located at Darling Harbour

Numbers

Maximum 6 per yacht and instructor.

Session Time

This is a 2 day course held every Saturday and Sunday held from 10.00am to 4.00pm (subject to availability and numbers on board). Plus a 3 hour Social Race afternoon conducted on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

Guidelines & Restrictions

We say if you can carry your own suit-case up a flight of stairs you are fit enough to sail. You need to be reasonably agile to move safely around the yachts. You must be over 16 to participate. This experience is suitable for singles, couples or groups.

Booking Insurance

It is recommended that you consider GoDo Booking Insurance. This is insurance cover for losses incurred if the activity is cancelled (under certain circumstances) by you or the activity supplier. Click here for further details.

Please note: GoDo and/or the activity supplier cannot provide a REFUND for cancellations, no matter the reasons. However, should you obtain Cancellation Cover, you maybe be able to make a claim directly to Mondial Assistance, our Booking Insurance provider.
