Overview
Explore our village in your own time - scattered throughout this faithful recreation of a late 1800's port are typical dwellings of the period: a bank, doctor's surgery, church, foundry, newspaper office, jail, surgery, slipway, inn, school and sail maker's loft. Walk in and inspect them up close - it's almost as if the inhabitants had just rushed up the street on an errand.
Towering above all this history is a lighthouse built in 1859, along wih several fortifications that were added about 20 years later.
Visit the village's own port and check out Flagstaff Hill's Great Circle Gallery, where pride of place belongs to the famous Loch Ard Peacock. Standing 1.5 meters tall, the magnificent procelain bird was headed for the Melbourne International Exhibition of 1880 when the Loch Ard struck Muttonbird Island, near present-day Loch Ard Gorge.

Many spend approx 2 hours in the village, however depending on your interest in Shipwrecks and early settlement, you may wish to spend a day or two like some of our other visitors!
Guidelines & Restrictions
Limited access for wheelchairs with cobblestone streets throughout the Museum. Entry and exploration of the village is self paced.
